Today I am continuing with the messages of a tree. We are on message 3 in the series.
For previous messages, please find them in the archive.
In today's message, there are 2 lessons to learn and apply to your life.
First lesson: Stand Tall!
There is a saying that I really love; Stand for something or fall for anything.
What do you stand for? What do you believe in? What will you fight for? And then be confident in what you stand for. You don't see trees slouching, yes I have seen some very interesting trees but I would say, 99% of all the trees I have seen in my life, they all stand up straight and tall.
To know what you stand for, ask yourself what you are passionate about. If you have free time, what do you like to research, learn about, do, talk about, be? What excites you and makes you smile? Do more of that!
When you do more of it, don’t be embarrassed or make excuses. Be confident and stand tall!
The second lesson: Stand Firm!
When you stand firm, you are unmovable. You don't keep chopping and changing to accommodate everyone. It is important to be flexible and come to a middle ground with some choices but (and this is a big BUT), there are certain things that you need to stand firmly and not change your footing.
So many times I have seen people lower their standards or change to make someone else happy. If it does not make you happy, then you need to rethink your choices.
Through my short / long life (depending on your perspective), I have known people with really strong values and they stand firmly by them.
*I know some people that have strong family values - they don't allow other things to come in between their family or family time.
*I know some people that have strong physique values - they firmly stick to a healthy eating plan and work out and don't allow other things to come in their way.
*I know some people that have strong morality values - they have decided early in their life that their values are important and they will not be tempted.
*I know some people have strong work values - they put work first and everything else second.
*I know some people that have strong ethical values - they will protest and fight for what they believe in.
There are so many more examples. I'm sure you have seen people that have very strong values. You may even have some strong values that you stand firmly by.
What I would encourage with your values is to make sure that it helps you grow as a person so that you stand tall. When you have a value that you believe in firmly, the "elements" will test you and bring strong winds to try and push you over. Make sure that you withstand these "elements" and continue to keep your eye on what matters to you most.
Some of these values will change over the course of your life, what is important to you as a teenager will seem really silly when you are older or when you circumstances change. This is what I call seasonal values. More about this in the next lesson. For now, I would just like to mention, a value that is worthy of standing tall and firm. A value should be true and constant and not seasonable. A truth that is everlasting and does not change with time. (You can read more about truth is constant here.) Everything that has a beginning has an end. There is one truth that will remain and is everlasting that that is your Beingness.
This earthly life you were born into and it means that you will leave when you die, but your beingness will remain. You will always BE. On this earthly journey, you have this body for a short time. So many people fight and separate themselves from others because they stand strong and firm into something that changes.
So as you choose what you are going to stand firmly and tall about, make sure that it will not change with time.
So much to think about with this message. Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a perfectly wonderful day!
